Why doll's?

"If it hasn't been in the hand and the body...it can't be in the brain" Bev Bos

There is evidence to show that dolls are the oldest know toy to humankind, dating back as early as 2000BC!

Playing with dolls helps children learn about themselves and the world around them. Children relate to dolls. They help to fuel children's imagination through essential role play and re-enactments...the building blocks of social skills, language, empathy and self care.

The less flashing lights and buttons, the more child led input there is, allowing for an altogether more natural cognitive process.

Having said all of that I also made dolls for grown ups! Those who admire timeless design and value the care and love that goes into handmade things.

Why wool?

The focus on authentic, natural materials such as wool, cotton and linen gives my dolls a living warmth. Their softness encourages softness. Wool is naturally renewable, sustainable, biodegradable, hygienic, hypoallergenic and flame retardant.

What now?

There will often be a number of dolls available on my website for you to choose from however if you would like to commission a doll to have a particular skin, hair, eye combination then please get in touch. There is no cost difference and I love designing dolls with unique details.

Workshops

I'm often asked about workshops and I feel passionately about passing skills on, particularly to the younger generations...if I get pestered enough then I probably should start setting some dates so please get in touch if you'd like to know more!
